The single most overlooked feature to consider when looking at buying office chair is the base. It is standard for these chairs to have casters or wheels. However some chairs come with only four spokes, or for legs with wheels; others with five, or six. It is important to get a chair that has more than four legs. With only four legs, depending on the orientation of the chair, it can be easy to tip out of the chair. Because of the head rest, someone sitting in the chair will be inclined to sit back and lean back in the chair. If the chair has only four legs, i.e. a base with four wheels, if they are leaning back between two of the legs, the chair could tip over backwards. (The taller back of an executive chair makes this more likely than with a smaller, standard office chair.) With five or more wheels, the chair becomes more stable. Of course, the other determining factor of the stability is the width of the base. Again, high-end executive chairs will have a wider base.
Often times while you are working you may find your chair’s armrests get in the way. If your workstation is ergonomically set up to have a keyboard tray installed underneath your desk, having a chair with armrests can be even more troublesome in trying to find a way to fit them beneath both your desk and your keyboard tray. Having armrests on a chair will also defeat the ergonomic benefits of using a keyboard tray because it will make you type in an unnatural position leading to strain on your wrists. Sliding into an armless chair is effortless, and getting in and out of your chair will no longer seem like a chore. Reaching for things near or on your desk will also be much simpler without arms being in the way.
The number of dining chairs necessary will mostly depend on how many people will typically be sitting at your dining table every night. It is also important to take into account how often you have guests over, if guests frequent your house it may be worth investing in an extra dining chair or two so you will not have to go through the effort of getting more in the future. By waiting to purchase additional chairs you have the risk of the chairs being out of stock or discontinued and no longer available for purchase. This leaves you with the problem of having to buy a new set of chairs or having to find something similar.
If you want an honest to goodness ergonomic computer chair, you have to look for specialized chairs which are designed to give its user comfort and ease when working with a computer. By specialized, I mean there is no other use for this chair but for long term computer use alone. They are not like task chairs which can double up as desk chairs and vice versa.
